Tilsit has asked that all those who are providing clues for the Birthday Jumbo crossword should send them to him by Monday at the latest so we can publish the puzzle next weekend.

I solved this before I knew who the setter was and it took me almost 5* time. The pangram didn’t help my solve, but it was nice to see. I wasn’t familiar with the actresses, but I knew my drinks.

The puzzle was easily finished and would have been a 1* apart from one clue which held out for quite some time and pushed me into 2* time. I’ll be interested to see how you all got on with it.

Another great Sunday puzzle which cheered up a proper winter’s day, with freezing fog and ice that never thawed. My favourite was 19a, although there were quite a few ‘runners-up’ for the title.
